Kimmeridge (The Ledges) Surfing is not a sport, it’s a lifestyle.
Surfers Quick Guide, Perfect wind occur when a Southwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Northeast.
Kimmeridge, also known as ‘The Ledges,’ is a world-renowned surf spot located on the South West coast of England, in the County of Dorset. This right-hand point break is renowned for its consistent waves, which can reach up to 10 feet in height, and its beautiful, clear blue waters.
Surfing at Kimmeridge is truly a unique experience. The wave starts to form out the back, near the Clavell Tower, and then travels along the jagged limestone ledges, providing a long, peeling ride for experienced surfers. The wave’s power and length make it a favorite among local and traveling surfers, who come from all over the world to experience it.
However, Kimmeridge is not just for experienced surfers. Its sheltered location and diverse wave conditions make it an ideal spot for beginner and intermediate surfers as well. In smaller swells, the wave breaks gently over the shallow reef, providing smaller, more manageable waves that are perfect for those just starting out.
